JUDY
HUEHN holds both Master's
and Bachelor's degrees in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of
Music.
Judy studied solo piano with Prof. Mack McCray and Prof. Justin
Blasdale at the Conservatory; chamber music with Mark Sokol;
instrumental and vocal accompanying with Timothy Bach; and harpsichord
and fortepiano with Laurette Goldberg.

Judy recently moved from the San Francisco Bay Area where she was
active in the music community and schools as well as teaching in her
private piano studio. She taught music education and singing classes at
Kids Connection private elementary school in Foster City, CA and
accompanied children's choirs at Roosevelt, McKinley and Lincoln public
elementary schools in Burlingame, CA. She was also a staff accompanist
for the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, Palo Alto
Children's Theater and Summer Adventures Musical Theater program in
Burlingame, CA.
In 2001, Judy Huehn paired up with friend and colleague, Ekaterina
Gueorguieva to form the Veda Piano Duo. They have frequently performed
together in the San Francisco Bay Area as a four hand, two piano duo
and have travelled to perform at events such as the International Piano
Festival held at Alfred Cortot Ecole de Musique in Paris; the Ibla
Grand Prize International Music Competition in Sicily where they
received the Distinguished Musician's Award in 2003 and; the 12th
International Piano Duo Competition in Tokyo where they won the Three
Sponsor Prize (Yamaha/Kawai/Ongakuno). www.vedapianoduo.com
Originally from Vancouver, B.C., Judy began her musical training in the
Suzuki Method when she was 4 years old at the Vancouver Academy of
Music. She studied with internationally renowned teacher, Prof. Lee
Kum-Sing and received her Piano Performance Diploma from the Royal
Conservatory of Music (Toronto) at age 18. She has won several
competitions for solo, chamber music and accompanying at the Kiwanis
Music Festival and scholarships at the Academy. She taught piano
privately and freelanced as an accompanist for several ballet companies
in Vancouver before continuing her undergraduate and graduate studies
at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Judy Huehn teaches in her private piano studio on Education Hill,
Redmond, WA. Judy is also an accompanist for the Redmond High School
and Redmond Jr. High School choirs. Her husband, Robert Huehn, is the

PIANO
LESSONS are tailored to each student's
abilities and needs. Method books and specific
pieces are chosen so that the student can have
fun learning and enjoy what they are playing.
Judy's approach to teaching is positve and caring.
Each lesson will include learning new pieces,
technique and theory. It is essential that the
teacher and student have good interaction and
match well in their personalities.
The following is a general description of the
type of instruction received at the Beginners,
Intermediate and Advanced levels.
Beginners:
Ages 5 & up, 30 min lesson/week
Introducing note values, rhythm, five-finger
positions, dynamics, phrasing, music terms in
Italian, short pieces, note-reading, developing coordination and finger
strength, and playing
duets together
Intermediate level:
45 min lesson/week
Building on technical skills with scales,
chords, arpeggios, sight-reading, expression
and artistry, musical forms and interpretation
Advanced level:
60 min lesson/week
Developing virtuoso technique with short studies
or etudes; understanding the composer and style
of music; interpreting phrasing, articulation and
tempos; exploring the ranges of sound and tone;
learning memorization techniques; performance,
competition, and examination preparation

Lesson rates are payable by semester: Fall, Winter & Spring.
Summer lessons are flexible. Piano recitals
are optional for the student but are definitely
encouraged.
